I have to admit that I have been super slow at updating recently. No longer a student, enjoying the carefree life. I used to upload the photos on the same night, and then blog about them! Couldn't believe how diligent I was before!
Anyways, just glad that I'm still blogging after all these years... and I will keep doing it for as long as I can :)
It was Father's Day a 2 Sundays ago. Unlike most other countries who celebrate Father's Day in June, we are a little late around here. Jon claims they just want to use it as an excuse to boost the retail economy. The "End of Financial Year" sale is normally in June, so they're pretty much safe during that time period. Father's Day will pretty much cover them until the Christmas Sales.
I tagged along to celebrate Uncle Peter's special day :)
After all, he is pretty much a father figure to me. He's helped me alot through good and bad times, especially when I had my car accident and total-ed my car.
The Lee "kids" - Jon and Tish.
We decided to bring Uncle Peter to Pearl Restaurant on Church Street, Richmond. The last time I was there was for my birthday, and I remember the dining experience there to be a fantastic one!
Surprisingly, we actually managed to get a table with quite short notice. They are normally pretty much fully booked most days. But I suppose, being a Sunday night, we were able to get a table. Perhaps most people celebrated on Saturday night or something... Who cares, we got a table! Whee!!
Mei & Jon.
Like daughter, like daddy - Tisha claims that she has inherited Uncle Peter's eyes... kekeke. I never really noticed before, but they do kinda look alike. I always thought the both of them look more like their mom though.
Foodie time!! (Someone actually asked me on facebook, if I really do eat all the food I photograph... Well, not ALL of them, but I do eat my portion of course!)
One of the best dishes of the night!
We started with something very simple. I ordered the Pearl (oyster) meat served with mushroom, ginger, and *I dont know the name of the vege* in a soy dressing...
A fusion of oriental flavour, with some western ingredients.... I absolutely loved this dish. Could have a few of them in one go!
I then had my main - I opted for the fish which was delish~!
It's a tapioca crusted red snapper, with fried Japanese eggplant, spicy fingerlime, longan and pomelo vinaigrette with forbidden rice.
I was a little hesitant with the blend of taste of the longan and pomelo on my savoury fish... but it actually turned out really yummy! I gobbled down my dish before Jon could finish it! First time ever~! I'm usually a very slow eater.
Uncle Peter opted for the poached grain fed lamb. I never knew lambs could be grain fed like chicken... I always thought they grazed on fields, you know?! eheheh...
The lamb was perfectly cooked and served with parsnip puree and asparagus, parsnip chips and a green olive and white anchovy tapenade. Absolutely mouth watering...
Tisha's dish I thought, had the best colours!
She had the wild barramundi. Yes, the girls both had fish that night. The fresh barramundi was served with slow cooked chickpeas and preserved lemon and orange, to give it some "zing", and some red onion, spearmint to add a touch of freshness, and pomegranate salad with pomegranate molasses.
Perfect blend of flavours. Good pick, Tish :)
Jon's duck curry was a little funny. It came with raw wombok - apparently the waiter said it's a very good palate cleanser, and superb with dipping into the dry curry sauce.
There was a little bowl of condiments for you to adjust the flavours to suit your palate as well. A little bit of a gimmick I reckon, but none-the-less, the duck was very tender. Jon really enjoyed this dish I think.
Dessert was awesome! I was really looking forward to tasting my dessert after I ordered it! Hehehe. There's always room for dessert!
I had the turkish delight, with rose petal ice-cream, served with glaced ginger and persian fairy floss. It looks slightly bland, with a lack of colour, but I assure you that it tastes absolutely DIVINE! Not too sweet... but very fragrant~! MmMmM... typing this is already making me salivate for more!
The night ended up green tea, and casual chats... while the food slowly digested in my stomach. I walked out, with a big grin on my face as the man helped me put my coat on. Thank God I wore a coat on that day, cause I absolutely stuffed myself silly with the yummy food!
Too bad Remy couldn't come along and join us, but Granddad will never forget Remy! He came home, and gave the fluffy boy a biggggg cuddle, before thanking us all for dinner. Yeaps, Remy is a very important, integral part of the family :) Hehehe.
He never fails to bring joy to us all.
ps: Daddy, I wish you were here with me! and mom... and funny... and bailey... and lucky... and erm.... not too sure about patchie and mon mon. Hehe.
