Jon and I are pretty much a boring couple, most will say. On most days, we would rather stay at home and spend some time with Remy... chill in front of the tele, lying on the lounge... etc. We haven't been big on going out and staying out late for years now. Part of growing up and growing old I suppose??
The other day, I came home after work on a weekend, and was feeling rather down after having a bad day at work. Not to mention, grumbly as well, as I had to work the long weekend...
He asked me what I wanted to have for dinner, and I said, I wouldn't mind having some nice pasta's actually... He was like "Ok, let's go to Lygon then".
I was like "Huh? Really?? All the way to the city?" - Alright, I don't live that far from the city, but most times, we would just go to Camberwell Junction and grab something from there.
Yeaps, 15 minutes later, we ended up on Lygon Street... wandering the street, looking for one of the many Italian restaurants to dine in :)
In the end, we ended up @ Piccolo Mondo. The girl at the front of the restaurant seemed to have done a good job at inviting us in, and offered us a free bottle of wine, which we couldn't resist. Hahaha.
We have dined in most of the restaurants there anyways, and Piccolo Mondo was one of the ones that we haven't tried, so we decided to give it a go!
Mei and her glass of white, to accompany her seafood pasta...
The night started off really well, because we were placed at the balcony upstairs. It was alot quieter, away from the crowd dining at the patio downstairs. It was almost as if, we had a little corner to ourselves, because we were the only ones upstairs.
Chicken broth for starters. It was yummy, but a tad oily for my liking. Would have been better if it wasn't so oily. The taste was clean, and the chicken flavour was quite natural, not overly crowded with other ingredients.
I quite liked it.
Just look at the crowd downstairs~! Lygon is always alive, I suppose! I love it... I wish the city never sleeps.
I opted for the crab linguine. It was a little messy to eat, which I suppose is normal when it comes to crabs, but overall, I quite enjoyed this dish. I wish they would give me more crabs, and less of the calamari (I don't know why there's calamari in my linguine). But overall, it wasn't too bad a dish.
The wine was easy with my pasta too.
Jon had his usual spaghetti marinara. He wasn't in the mood to get his hands dirty, eating the crabs and stuff. I didn't actually try his dish, so I can't really comment much. Presentation didn't look too bad though, hehe.
The night ended with a trip down to Il Dolce Freddo for my favourite gelati. YUM! We then took a slow stroll back to the car, and headed home to see my other favourite boy, Remy poo.
It was a good way to end my day, after a whole day at work. A little bit of love, before returning to the cruel cruel world for another long day.
How was your weekend, everyone??
