You, Dumbo! Me, random?!?

I was the nurse caring for the couple’s newborn first child after his cesarean birth. Since the mother was asleep under general anesthesia, the pediatrician and I took our tiny charge directly to the newborn nursery where we introduced the minutes-old baby to his daddy. While cuddling his son for the first time, he immediately noticed the baby’s ears conspicuously standing out from his head. He expressed his concern that some kids might taunt his child, calling him names like “Dumbo” after the fictional elephant with unusually large ears. The pediatrician examined the baby and reassured the new dad that his son was healthy - the ears presented only a minor cosmetic problem, which could be easily corrected during early childhood.

The father was finally optimistic about his child, but was still worried about his wife’s reaction to those large protruding ears.
“She doesn’t take things as easily as I do,” he worried.

By this time, the new mother was settled in the recovery room and ready to meet her new baby. I went along with the dad to lend some support in case this inexperienced mother became upset about her baby’s large ears. The infant was swaddled in a receiving blanket with the head covered for the short trip through the chilly air-conditioned corridor. I placed the tiny bundle in his mother’s arms and eased the blanket back so that she could gaze upon her child for the first time.

She took one look at her baby’s face and looked to her husband and gasped, “Oh, Honey! Look! He has your ears!”

Just another story.Thought it was rather funny and entertaining! Not my personal experience of course... I'm not a nurse. (no offence to those who are nurses. I truly admire your dedication towards your profession.)

Random thoughts:

  • What does it take for a stupid, inconsiderate person to realise how stupid and inconsiderate he's been?? Okay, maybe he'll never realise that he's stupid. But perhaps, someway along the line, someone would have pointed it out to him, that he's being really inconsiderate? ArghHh. Sometimes, I just feel like telling it straight to his face, but I shall be nicer than that. I'm capable of being nice... *Mei shall not explode* But gosh, everyone has got a limit to how much one can tolerate.
  • The March Hottest Blogger contest is now open =) So please drop by, and cast me a vote if you can be bothered (www.hottestblogger.com) And don't ask me what happened to the votes before. Hehehe. They just miraculously disappeared. *shrugs*
  • I just reformatted my laptop. Okay, of course I didn't do it by myself. I know nuts about computers! Hahaha. Ming Yen did it for me. But unfortunately, he did something to the external hard disk, where all my back-ups are... and he spent the whole night retrieving my precious data. Hence, I'm attempting to cook dinner tonight, for Mingyen, YongShen (for lending me your external hard disk) and Ade (just because I'm nice!), and we can all watch Full House together!!! *Mei is officially an addict now!!!* And Karen, STOP saying that I'm slow. *shy*
  • Yay!!! Daylight saving has ended!!! Officially!!! (was delayed due to the Commonwealth Games) Extra hour today! Yippie!!! Hahaha...
  • And last but not least, today's Melbourne F1 race was stupid. Ferrari is stoopid! ArGhHhHh! :( **and NO, McLaren is not any better! Bleks! >> this goes out to TMY, Daniel and Danny**

There are so many jokes that I could do right on in reguard to your random thoughts, but I will play it safe and not. Also make sure you BIOS and CPU match one another with the RAM speed (RTFM before doing that) and make absolutly sure that your HDD and your FDD are alligned in proper parellel with one another, and finally and most importaintly do not go and be a PEBKEC.
