Last weekend, Jonathan (Oohh, it almost feels weird to say his name) and I flew up to Brisbane to attend Boon's wedding. I haven't seen Boon in almost 6 years, but that didn't stop us from communicating online. Isn't that what modern technology is for anyways?
He informed me some months ago that he was getting married! I was shocked! (but obviously super happy for him) as well. It never occured to me that we would be attending each other's wedding. It seemed like it was only yesterday when we were wagging lectures, hanging out at mamaks, going out for movies. I still remember the first week of uni, where Boon had to cross dress as part of 'orientation'. Man! He was one ugly chick!! Hahahaha.
L-R: Jonathan, Derek, Boon the groom, Bong the bestman, and Gary.
But that day, he was the star of the party. He was the handsome groom, waiting patiently (or not so) for his beautiful bride, Sarah... to walk down the aisle. He was the one who had the widest grin on his face. He was, happier than I have ever seen him in the past.
The girls with Boonie. Mei, Alice (Gary's fiancee for those who didn't know) and Katherine.
Yes, don't get me started! You did not tell us, Gary! You did not deny when David mentioned it in his email that you were gonna be next, but even Boon said you didn't tell us! :P Blerks! You just assumed that we knew!
Anyways, we'll save Gary's story for another day... hehe.
Back to Boon & Sarah's beautiful wedding for now :P
Isn't the bride's walk-in just superbly beautiful? I love the tree separating her bridesmaids, from the bride and dad. Her veil flowing to the rhythm of the wind... and she, walking so gracefully down the aisle towards the man she loves. The one that she chose to spend the rest of her life with.
Oh so romantic.... :D
I could not put into words, how beautiful that moment was.
Boon and Sarah, saying their vows infront of the funny pastor, as the groomsmen look on.
We were serenaded by Sarah's sister on the violin, and Hui-Li on the guitar. They were playing one of my all-time-favourites - Pachelbel's Cannon in D. I was just practising that on the piano the other day! I am soooo rusty! I need to do finger exercises again, or I will lose my skills all together.
And then they were pronounced man and wife... and had their first kiss :) AwWw...
Hooray to the newlyweds!!!
The both of them looked sooo extremely happy! The happiness is almost contagious, I tell ya! I couldn't help but to smile from ear to ear as they walked past me.
After that, it was time for all of us to cam-whore! Hehe. Apparently, beige / cream was the colour of the day! Alice and I both turned up in similar colours, and Gary and Jon both wore a striped tie ( both were diagonal striped!)
**Jon was complaining that he looks short in this pic cause he was standing at a lower level**
"Now all your friends are gonna think I'm short!" Hahaha.... He's so paranoid!
A compulsory photo with the stars of the day! I know, you can't really see Boon's eyes cause he's grinning too wide!!
Jon and I took the opportunity to snap nice pics ourselves. Hehe. Isn't the place just calmingly beautiful? I think I spoiled the pic cause I was too hunched! Need to correct my posture!
Fabian and his fiancee, Joanne was there too! There are sooo many Malaysians up in Queensland, I tell ya! Derek has moved up, so has Yong Shen... and alot of the UK grads have moved to Queensland to work as well, because of the better pay and better working hours. Not to mention, better career opportunities!
They almost make me feel like I wanna move up and enjoy some sunshine as well. Hehe.
Melbournians in QLD - Hui-Li flew in on Saturday morning to attend the wedding as her cousin's bridesmaid, and then will be on the first plane back to Melbourne on Sunday morning cause she had to work the next day!
Xian Lee was the most recent addition to the QLD community. He's only been there 3 weeks! (well, probably about a month now). He seems to be settling okay, and has started working too. You should come visit us in Melbourne sometime.
It's so good to be able to see everyone again. Some people that I never thought I'd see again. Some people that I didn't even know was in Queensland!
Bong's speech was funny! Bong is still.... well, Bong! He's not changed one bit. Well, except for maybe picking up some pretty bad Aussie stuff, and he still drinks like a fish!
The cake cutting moment :D Where Boon and Sarah made a short speech to thank everyone who's come from near and far, to witness and share this very special day with them :)
Just one last picture of Mei, with the bride and groom before I leave you guys for the night.
I've been off work for the last few days upon returning from Brisbane. Been running some errands, registering for my exams and revision course, sending Jon's bike for servicing, finally done my tax returns and so-on.
It's back to work for me tomorrow night, for yet another run of nights! Looking forward to doing more exciting things over the night, and obviously, to the week of that follows!! :) Whee~!!!
