Queenstown, Here We Come!

It's been a week since we got back from New Zealand, and waking up every morning and getting my arse to work, ain't getting any easier. I think it's really difficult to get back into the jazz once you've been off on annual leave for so long....

Sigh, I've exhausted all my annual leave for the year. Looks like I'm working Christmas and New Year's again like last year! This sucks...

But anyways, the New Zealand trip was awesome!!! Here are some pics as proof.

We had to wake up early to catch our 0630 flight to Queenstown. It is the ONLY direct flight to Queenstown, by Air new Zealand, and they only fly once a week, so we really didn't wanna miss our flight, and thus miss our whole holiday! The truth is, I was sooooo high with excitement, I couldn't really fall asleep the night before!

Jon stole my window seat after I went to the toilet. Perfect timing, cause he caught the superb view as we flew into Queenstown!!!

I haven't seen soooo much snow in my entire life! **okay, blame me for growing up in the tropics huh?? ** But seriously, all the mountains were snow capped, it was just.... so breathtaking! It was almost as if, you could just drop off from the heli, and went skiing down ANY of the mountains there! :)

This place is sooo scenic, it's no wonder they chose to film Lord Of The Rings here!

We arrived in Queenstown around 11ish NZ time in the morning. After checking in to the hotel, we decided to walk around Queenstown a little bit. Since our room wasn't gonna be available until after 2pm anyways.... So we thought, why not get to town and grab a bite??

Got some random person to take a photo of us.... but sigh, Jon had his eyes closed! I didn't even realise until we got back to Melbourne, and loaded the photos onto my Macbook... otherwise, I would have told her to take another shot! :P The scenery's nice huh??? We got to Lake Wakatipu after lunch.... just walking around and absorbing its beauty in full glory...

Jon @ Lake Wakatipu.

It was really cold though! Was only -6 degrees when we touched down that morning. But at least the sun was out, and it was a nice day! BbbrRrRr....

One of Mei :D

Apparently, Jon said Queenstown has developed heaps in the past 2 years~! *the last time he was here in summer* There are heaps of shops around, and they all open till late, hence the term "Party town of NZ" :D Lots of bars and pubs around, in quaint little alleyways... serving really good wines and cocktails.

They even have a Louis Vuitton store here! :) I bought myself an LV clutch bag, duty free~! And with the NZD-AUD conversion, I thought it was a pretty good buy. Now, I'll just have to wait for an occasion to wear it to. Have only used it once so far, and only for a little while...

The beautiful Queenstown during the day. The town which comes totally alive, at night...

We got back to have a cat nap in the hotel around 3ish in the afternoon, hoping to be able to make it to night skiing.... The ski shuttle for night skiing leaves around 5.30pm to Coronet Peak.

We made it to Coronet Peak alright... But the weather was too darn cold for my liking! I was wearing thermals, and multiple layers of clothing... but I still felt the cold biting me! AND I thought I was smart, for not bringing my goggles at night, thinking that I wouldn't need them... but boy, was I very wrong!!!

IT. WAS. SNOWING!!!

I think the temperature was probably around -10 degrees then, and the snow was cutting my face! I couldn't see the slopes properly, cause I couldn't really open my eyes! Geez, was that bad!!! And it was so cold, that our attire were practically frozen!

A forced smile from Mei.

After a couple of runs, I had to run indoor to defrost and seek shelter from the cruel cruel snow! I have to say though, that the snow here in NZ is sooo many times better than the ones we get in Australia! Seriously!!

Well, after warming myself up with a cuppa tea, I decided to call it a night. But Jon was still very energetic, so I waited for him in the cafe, while he did a couple more runs!

Needless to say, we got home and hit the bed straight away.... and slept like babies for the rest of the night! And then.... early morning again to hit the slopes! :)

More updates soon....
WHEEE~!!!
