This is atrocious!

Taken from The Star Online.

Fed up. *click*

"I have fed up and negatif thinking in this moment. What should I do in this moment.

I had just tendered my resignation and due to I still in probation period so I just give two weeks notice. But since my colleague knew I was resign they seem like totally chance their attitude toward me. What can I do right now?

My Exe.already take over my job totally (in fact she dind't pass thee job for me since I join this company two months ago.)so I even have free time to write the blog on The Star. I surfing net every day when I came to work is not point but I hope I can pas it faster and join a new company. All colleague are very busy except me. My boss knew I am very free to surf net but he dind't say anything.

Pls tell me what can I do for the free 8 hour in office for the next 5 days.

I am a graduate fro ma local university even what I study was not match to what the field I join now but I keen to work why all the people not given me a chance i just do the simple filing work for the past 8 month. This is the third job. The second and third job is in a 8 months period but I already tender due to the work fuction was what I expected and what atated when I interview.

You may say that is my problem but all the way I try to solve. even I am a graduate but I don't mind work for OT if employer paid it and work under pressure. I join factory line I knew it is a fast pace environment but when I join new company for almost two month I still assign for a simple job like filing.

This is not my expected life."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This may make me sound like a bitch, but I'm sorry to say that I did not pity him after reading his post. If I were to be the employer, I wouldn't have hired him in the first place, with that command in English. Not to diss anybody, but come on, he's a graduate from uni, not prep school.

And switching 3 jobs in the span of eight months? That will mean he did not pass the 3 months probation period in any of the firms he joined. *assuming that he spent an equal amount of time in each firm*. Having a degree does not guarantee you a job, and it certainly does NOT guarantee you getting a "high level, high profiled important job". Everyone has to start from somewhere, and for most people, it's the bottom.

It takes patience and determination if you want to climb the ladder. I am not surprised that you were not assigned to more "important" jobs besides filing, because the impression I got after reading the letter **I took several attempts, due to the difficulty in understanding him** was that you don't show initiative or enthusiasm in wanting to improve. Surfing the net everyday, and waiting for time to pass is certainly a good way to get noticed, and chosen for jobs huh??

I am totally appalled, both by your attitude, and your grammar (and spelling too). I couldn't help but think "How in the world did you graduate anyway?"

Surely, this is not your "expected life". You need to stop being in denial, and wake up and smell the coffee. Not everyday is sunshine, and work life certainly isn't. You definitely need to buck up, or you're OUT man.

** Sorry, it was meant to address "him" as a third person, but I got carried away and starting using "you", as if I was addressing this to him..But on second thoughts, hhmmm... maybe I should **

HHmm... When I first saw it, I thought you were going to support him as you've put this post on your blog.. as I was reading it (backtracking several times, due to diff. in understanding), I was like.. "eerr.. this guy doesnt need to be supported... he needs to be told off" .
LOL... only did i know at the end, you were dissing him.. LOL

True though, he's so not putting in any effort in his job! 2-3 jobs in 8 months! I wouldnt hire him if he applies to my company now! *faints*

Ppl need to appreciate when they get hired! All I want is a job position now! *sigh*

Okie dokes... back to cramming now..

leo: Yeah.. too 'powderful' until I oso cannot understand him :P

Gosh, I'm mean... I think the stress is taking over the bad side of me. Kekekeke.

Mei said...

ade: Support him? You must be kidding me! I was boiling as I was reading that!

He deserves to be slapped left-right-centre! :) All I want is a job now, and he's being whiny about his situation! Bleh...

ps: I need to go shopping :( I was having withdrawal symptoms, and had to browse E-bay. How sad is that??

y u all so bad... my england no good dun means u all can burry me...

Mei said...

jinkhang: It's not so much the engrish, but it's the attitude ;)

You sarcastic little fella! tee hee hee...

Mei said...

john vain: i reckon it was more the former, although retard is too strong a word.

what kinda withdrawal symptoms? fidgetting, restlessness, and alot more. :( just not good...

Wake up and smell the coffee. Shouldnt't you be doing that as well instead of holding on to something that is not yours anymore?

Seems like you're in denial as well

Anonymous said...

Lots of local grads have poor English, that's the fact and it's not entirely their/our fault, no need to make fun of that. I do agree that the dude has some serious attitude problem though..

Kelly Siew said...

i shall refrain from commenting on the english

but why does he have the nerve to say he surf net everyday at work and blame it on his boss/colleagues?

Ah well. I don't know him but yeah, the attitude!!!

Mei said...

anonymous: Am I holding on to anything?

Mei said...

jee: I said it was bitchy of me to have made that comment *pls refer to my post* and yes, it's not entirely his/their/your (take your pick) fault. The government has to seriously look it. It's been ongoing, not a new issue that's recently discovered.

But I'm sure there are ways to improve or mend the problem :) When there's a will, there's a way, rite?

And the impression I got was, he just wasn't trying. And I don't feel for people who do not try at all.

And oh, I did mention that I've got friends who are local graduates, who are the most intelligent people ever ;)

Mei said...

kelly: Yeah, tell me about it. I was rather cheesed off when I read it. Call me bitchy, but I didn't really pity him at all. *shrugs*

Mei said...

jee: Oops! I meant the government has to look into it :) Typo.

Anonymous said...

anonymous,

why are you hiding behind that anonymity? if you wanna say something, pls do not be afraid to stand up for it.

Mei said...

joey: Well, that's his/her choice. And if he/she thinks that I'm hanging on to something that isn't mine anymore, that's MY choice :)

And anonymous, I'm not in denial. I know very well what I'm doing.

joey, thanks for standing up for me. teehee *hugz*

too many people think that just because they got some education, they are superior.

Just a false sense of security about life, I guess.

Xodus said...

heheee...HEADACHE i tell u..ur rite Mei..have to read it a few times then can understd..i guess his expected life is straightly to sit on the big seat lol~i mean even bosses sometimes need to do filing also wut like mine

how the heck he can be a Graduate liddat? now tat i dun understd.

Mei said...

anonymous: You're funny.. :)

Mei said...

robin: Yeah, in today's society.. tertiary education is essential. It is no longer a luxury.

I guess you go out, throw a stone, and you'll hit a graduate. So employers are looking for something more than just that piece of paper.

You're right. It doesnt make one more superior.

Mei said...

the dark one: Hahaha, well, his expectations in life needs some revision.

Well, I was puzzled too *shrugs*

Mei said...

john vain: Hehehe, I bought an aromatherapy candle :) killed 2 birds with a stone
1. i got to shop
2. i needed to calm myself down :)

Yeah, proactive is a word that's not in his dictionary.

mei.. my earlier comment wasn't pointing at any particular person, apparently some of your readers were more critical in the English issue and I just felt the urge to voice out.

Ya right, our government should really do something, hope that the implementation of Science-English teaching in high school could work.

Mei said...

jee: Yeah. i know :D No offence taken. I hope you're not offended in any way too.

Sigh, we've been waiting forever for them to do something. And from what I heard, the science teaching in high school ain't of much help.

Just out of curiosity, I heard that teaching in teatiary institutions is in English, but the paper is in BM? Is that true?

krystaL said...

happening post!!:P

Mei said...

krystal: Hahahaha, I know! Tell me about it. I so totally didn't expect it when I posted it up. I was merely ranting. kekeke

How's the partying, babe? I'm so dying of stress and anxiety!

Anonymous said...

mei, can't conclude for everyone.. but 4-5 years ago, BM or English were used in teaching depending on the lecturer.

In most cases the paper was prepared in both language and the grads were allow to answer in either BM or English.

Unimaginable right?

Happening post indeed, perhaps it's human behavior to be drawn to controversy..

Mei said...

jee: up to the lecturer? Hhmmm, i find it rather peculiar, cause there's no formal standardisation what so ever.

And if they are always going to give them that choice, then they will see no need to improve.

I think it's that state of being contented, that will lead to their demise. **ok, demise is rather strong** but you get my drift. ;)

A few more tries and he might just garner a reputation that leaves him/her permenantly jobless for a while.

Just side tracking a bit, the impression I get is that life seems to be maybe a tad too easy in local uni(s). People like him/her aren't only foolish, they are spoilt.

On a lighter note, you've got a cool blog, it's a very easy read. :)

Anonymous said...

hey.. thanks for dropping by my blog,. :)

Mei said...

the unknown: Hahaha, yeah :) Well, ultimately, he's gotta slap himself on the face, and realise that it's not gonna be what he had in mind. He's gotta start working towards what he wants now, rather than sit around and wait for a miracle to fall from the sky.

Thanks! and thanks for dropping by too! :D

Mei said...

jen: tee hee hee. No worries :)

you know what's sad?
it's the fact that ppl these days think they are good as long as they are a uni graduate..
the fact that the government is implementing maths and science to be taught in english when the teachers teaching them aren't good in english...

but the biggest joke was what and ad i heard over the radio this morning: "No higher education wants you? look for us! we **** University, has a place for EVERYONE, any course...
ppl can be a lawyer, a doctor, and engineer with blardee shit marks..
and they come out to the society either blaming everyone else but themselves if they do not end up with a job...
and we wonder why are these doctors kill more lives than save them, these buildings we are living are as fragile as glass..

Mei said...

mouse: Yeaps, they're merely deceiving themselves. Like I said before. You throw a stone, and it will land on a grad. So what's the big deal??

and the english education thing, i reckon it's a big joke! and it's gonna be a flop if the educators don't firstly, improve themselves. How are you gonna teach others? *sigh*

Hahaha, now you know why I look at which uni the doctor is from before I see them? *the qualification matters* especially when you're dealing with other people's lives. Call me paranoid, but I just don't wanna end up @ the wrong hands!

Hahaha, that ad is funny! It's just like saying, "come here! we're the dumping ground! all are welcome, we do not discriminate. colour and results do not matter... only the currency does"

tee hee hee.

ok, i think i went abit too far there. sorry if i have offended anyone.

Yinfun said...

lol
i was thinking of the same thing...
i think that uni is just ruining their reputation...rubbish bin...
but i guess their marketing strategy was more like...we would like to give everyone an opportunity to further their studies..regardless of how stupid/smart they are...
but one thing that they seems to have forgotten..or perhaps refused to address: so, what if they have a qualification?
if they are not good enough, they are not good enough in the real world to compete anyway?
that's the problem with us...
the unemployment rate is soo high is becuz these ppl refused to work when pay is low simply becuz they have a degree...
and we are giving way too much opportunities...even for those who do not deserve them at all...
it's sad...but true

i pengsan. i cannot comprehend his english or his thoughts. the company probably wanted to fire him in the 1st place, but since he resigned, they let him leech on for the moment.

it's people like him that gives local unis a bad name. public local unis produce people like him annually - elementary school english, skewed mindset of getting a dreamjob and high pay upon graduation. he's already jumping from comapany to company, doing odd jobs. and he expects to be paid for OT as a probationer?

pengsan.

Mei said...

chloe: Hehehehe.

I 'pengsan-ed' too!

Fashionasia said...

I understood why the company did not even bother to give him work...
I have 1 guy here like that too. We just couldnt think of anything that he can do so we just left him as is hoping that he will resign due to boredom. But he is still lurking around....arghhhh...
All i can say to him is Pls dont blame others for your own incompetency.
