The Irony...

It's funny how people gets placed into different categories,
Whether it's from first impression, or after getting to know them better.
how everyone gets stereotyped... Whether you like it or not.
She's the cool one, she's the fashionable one,
She's the smart all rounder, she's the nerdy book-worm,
She's the single career woman. She's the married stay home mom.

Someone told me yesterday that he doesn't want to fall into any one category.
He doesn't want to be able to be boxed.
He wants to be a little bit of everything,
To enjoy every little bit of life :)

I never thought it was possible.
Everyone gets categorised into boxes.
"The one you wanna aspire to be" winners.
"The one that you want your kids to stay away from" losers.

I don't believe in having everything in life.
Purely because you gotta make sacrifices,
To achieve things that you perceive as important, as essential.
Nothing comes for free after all, huh?
You win some, you lose some they always say.

But after hearing about a friend's engagement,
How she's sooo over the moon with the new bling on her flinger,
Made me wonder...
Can you really have everything??
Career, wealth, recognition... and now she's even found love.

I am truly happy for her.
But I couldn't help but wonder,
Is this really possible??
Or am I really writing about this because I'm envious.
Because she's one of the few who's found it all...

My impression of you? An all rounder who's got it all...looks, career, brains and love (family, friends and bf)
So there is really no need to be envious because you can't simply compare, there will always be someone better than you. What would life be if everything is perfect for you? There won't be anymore drive or excitement, don't you think? :)

reckon you're more confounded than envious. Anyhow, nobody has everything; something's gotta give, without a doubt...

Come on, girl. What are you talking about? What don't you have in your life? You can't ask for too much you know? You can't have everything.

You are already luckier than alot of other people that I know, and I think you should realize that and be grateful for it.

Don't be disheartened. One day, you will wake up and realize that you have got it all, because you are happy.

Some ppl sure seem to have everything, don't they?
But then again, what others can see would be what's on the surface. And hence, we tend to see others to be better off than us.
Yet, who knows what's underneath?

Ultimately, I believe it's not what we have, but what we perceive we have that determines our happiness.

Adrianne: Yeah... I suppose you're rite. It's what you don't have, that pushes you to work harder, aim higher, strive for better...

But thanks! I know I'm lucky in some ways, but I suppose.. people always want things they don't have, or can't have... Just the way of life. :P

How's motherhood coming along for u? And ur new home?!

The Unknown: Yeah... I know :) Just can't help but to be greedy, and want some sometimes... when you're confronted with the situation.

Anonymous: I am grateful for what I have, and I am thankful everyday... But that doesn't mean I can't "want" more for the better of me life :P So long I work hard for it... hehe...

Gracie: Thank you...

funny: Yeah... I agree. I just need to keep reminding myself. But I suppose, you gotta think about it sometimes, before you can act on it.

And if you're contented all the time, then there's no room for improvement, and no motivation to do so. So, I agree that perception is important... but in moderation. You need to know when to step out and aim for more, and when to sit back, and be thankful for what you have.
