I've been treating him for about 6 weeks before he got discharged from the hospital, and he's been back to outpatients' for review twice. He's an elderly gentleman, who's ever so nice and smiley whenever you see him.... and his wife, lovely! They just make the cutest couple ever...
Today, as I was calling my patients into the room during outpatients clinic, they waved from across the waiting room and asked how I was. I casually chatted with them for about a minute before my patient came, and we went into the consulting room. They asked if I was going to be the one seeing them.... and I said "Well, we'll see how your luck is today!" and off I went with my patient...
Unfortunately, I didn't get to see them. My registrar was already seeing them in the rooms when I finished with my patient... but none-the-less, I hung around for awhile, looking through pathology results after clinic ended for me. My reg then knocked on my door and asked what I was doing... and said that they wanted to say hi to me...
I went into the room when they handed me an eggplant!! All because I casually mentioned 4 weeks ago that I liked eggplants and they grow eggplants on their little vege patch! How thoughtful!!!
I know it's only a little vegetable, but the token of appreciation was bigger than ever! To me at least... I really loved it! I couldn't stop showing off my little eggplant to my reg, Andrew and Sarah. Jon was like "YUCK! I don't like eggplant!" It may be yucky for him, but definitely not for me...
THANKS Mr. and Mrs. G! I love it! It really means alot to me... knowing that the little bit I did, touched your hearts.
I don't have to do big things in life to make a difference. Only little things sincerely... with all my heart...
Perhaps the eggplants are going to taste sweet? ;) Hehehe...
