The raging fire...

Yesterday was indeed a bad day for many Victorians... The raging bushfire in Northern Victoria has wiped out transmission lines, causing power failures in many suburbs and also the CBD... leaving many Victorians literally stranded.

I was having a late lunch with Ade in Box Hill when the power outage occured. We were both shocked, as it was indeed an unusual occurence. We waited for abit, but the power didn't return... so we decided to leave instead. Driving out of Box Hill Centro was a nightmare, cause the carpark was literally pitch black! The security had to use torch lights to guide us to our cars. Luckily, we weren't the only ones in the carpark at that time! It would have been so darn scaryyyyy!

I then dropped Ade off, and headed home... but it took me wayyyyy longer than usual to get home... cause all the traffic lights were wiped out! CRAP!! Traffic police had to direct traffic at main junctions all across Victoria. The commuters had it bad when train and tram lines were both affected as they run on power. Some were stuck in the train for almost 3 hours, with no air conditioning, on a 39 degree day.

Some were even admitted to hospitals for heat strokes!! Poor them! Can you imagine cooking in an "oven" and you don't even have electricity?? No fan, no air-conditioning... nothing! I'm just so lucky not to have been at work last night, or else, I wouldn't have the opportunity to sleep at all.

The power failure news was all over the radio this morning. Almost everyone was affected, in one way or another. Jon's mom and dad's place didn't have power for a couple of hours. Many couldn't sleep last night as it was just too hot. The worst thing is, you can't even take many showers, cause of the water restrictions! :(

And as for us, we resorted to bubble baths with essential oils, just to relax. You have no idea how therapeutic it is, to just immerse yourself in the bath while eating calippo... and get all wrinkly... after a stressful day...

wuching: No. You just turn on the tap, fill some water. and you guys can stay in there for as long as you want, till you get all wrinkled. Saves more water...

The water's always running if you use the shower. :)

FYI you actually use more water with baths. unless you plan to recycle the water several times.
to test, use your shower but plug up your bath, and see how long it takes to fill up the tub. you'll find that you're done showering wayyy before the tub's full.

vagus: Not if there's more than one of you in the bath...

OK, forget that I even said that. Hahahaha. :P

in that case try and shower twice and see if it fills up the tub.

but then again after the bath u will have to rinse off. so umm... more water usage?! hehe

It's amusing! Only women i suppose can pull that off, to start writing about raging bushfires and carefully end with a....therapeutic bubble bath??!
